How We Review Laptops — Methodology

Last reviewed: June 2026 · Next review: December 2026.

Laptop evaluation follows the same honesty standard as our phone methodology: we tell you whether we tested a device or whether the assessment is based on research.

Hands-on evaluation

When a laptop is available for direct evaluation, we test it across the use cases most relevant to Nepal buyers — student productivity, office work, content consumption, and where applicable video editing and gaming — over a minimum four-day period. Testing covers battery life from a single charge under mixed use, display quality, keyboard and typing comfort, build quality, and thermal performance under sustained load. We note the OS and driver state at the time of testing.

Spec-based assessment

Most laptops, particularly budget and mid-range models, are assessed without hands-on access. The verdict is then built on processor generation and benchmark tier (compared against devices we have tested), display panel type and specification, the RAM and storage configuration of the Nepal SKU, verified Nepal-buyer reports, and comparison with laptops in the same price band we have evaluated directly. These pages carry a disclosure statement.

Nepal-specific factors

We weight Nepal-specific factors heavily: confirmed Nepal availability (not just India availability), warranty validity and service-centre access in Nepal, realistic Nepal pricing including VAT, and whether EMI options are available from major Nepal banks.
