Editor’s review

  • A 2021 watch in 2026 — software support is ending. Samsung's update policy gives Galaxy watches approximately 4 years of software and security updates. The Galaxy Watch 4 is at or past that window. You may stop receiving new features and eventually security patches. This is the single biggest concern with buying this watch new in 2026.
  • BIA body composition and dual-band GPS are still relevant. The Watch 4 introduced BIA body composition measurement to the Galaxy lineup and it still works accurately. Dual-band GPS also functions well for trekking. The hardware hasn't aged, only the software support timeline.
  • Only buy at a significant discount. The Galaxy Watch FE (2024) is lighter, has sapphire crystal glass, and newer software support — and it costs roughly the same as a Watch 4 at current Nepal prices. If you see a Watch 4 for its price or less, it is a solid deal. At its price+, it isn't.
  • Android-only with the same Samsung Galaxy limitations. Full BioActive features including ECG and body composition require a Samsung Galaxy Android phone. Using it with other Android brands or with an iPhone gives a significantly reduced experience.

Frequently asked questions

Only at a genuine discount u2014 limited. The hardware (dual-band GPS, BioActive sensor, AMOLED display) is still capable. The concern is software longevity; with Wear OS 3 and ageing Samsung support, the Watch 4 is closer to end-of-life software-wise. For the same money, a Galaxy Watch FE is a smarter purchase unless the Watch 4 is significantly cheaper.
